Laxeiro is a family run restaurant. Isabel Rios first opened up a delicatessen - Charcuterie in 1982 on this site. It was the first store of it's kind in the whole of East London let alone the Shoreditch and Bethnal Green Area. As well as selling produce from Spain, Europe and the world, home cooked food had always been a big part of the business. Along with her son, Eduardo, this gradually evolved into a restaurant. From day one the restaurant was a big success and we earned a great reputation for good quality and great food, we were established in the community!
Our roots lie in Galicia, North West Spain. The rolling green hills and the beautiful Atlantic coastline are major influences in our food and wine. Albarino and Godello wines along with excellent fish and seafood or the wintery stews and hearty meats.
We have always had a simple ethos to our restaurant and the food we serve.
We use the freshest and best ingredients we can get our hands on. We source directly from many suppliers in Spain but at the same time have always used the same local Family run Butcher as well as the local Family run Fishmonger.
Our food is still home cooked Spanish Food and everything we sell today is made today.
Eduardo hunts high and low to find great wines from some of the most popular and respected areas in Spain as well as some of the more secretive parts. There are some real gems on our list and were sure you will find something you will love!!
It's a recipe that we've enjoyed and has worked for us along the years. The dining room is like being at home, small but has a relaxed atmosphere to it which inevitably does have that Spanish buzz to it by the end of the night. We are not on a high street and in fact are an established part of a quite residential.
