This unpretentious Columbia Road favourite has a bright, almost caff-like interior with cheerful,
neat wood decor, and a scattering of pavement tables.
The alert, friendly staff ensure you're never
forgotten for long. With a glass of excellent Rioja in hand, we resisted the paella (the only main
course available) and chose a variety of tapas from a list (chalked on a blackboard) that mixes
good-value standards such as pinchos and garlic prawns with some contemporary updates - coriander
and chilli clams, beef in black pepper - and a number of vegetarian options. A light, freshly made
tortilla, rich, meaty albondigas and a surprisingly delicate butterbean and mozzarella salad were
great, and the chicken and chickpea stew was supreme.A great choice for pit stop dining.
Small but perfectly formed tapas restaurant. To die for calamiri, sardines and spicy chickpeas mean
that even vegetarians are more than catered for!
This has to be the number one tapas bar in London. The food is great and the wine list better. This
is Spanish food at its best 10/10. Neil.
Went with friends who had not had tapas before and had a wonderful evening. Wine excellent, tapas
brill, Patatas Bravas to die for and Red Snapper10/10 .Craig.
Most enjoyable, atmosphere great and service very good. Could not fault any dish ordered. Great
introduction to Tapas. We will return and recomend to many others 10/10. Paul.
Outstanding restaurant...probably the best Tapas and Paella I've tasted and that competes with
restaurants I've visited in Andalucia. You Taste the utter freshness and natural ingredients they
prepare the food by, it makes all the difference. Outstanding value for money a must for any
occasion. Try the Paella its from Heaven honestly! Terry.
Everything was perfectly cooked with excellent ingredients, good service with friendly staff. I
can't wait to go back 9/10. John.
The only thing to have changed about this buzzy little tapas joint in recent years is that, these
days, when the sun comes out, so too do a couple of pavement tables. It's packed on Sundays, thanks
to the flower market & it's usually pretty full on weekday evenings, too, if you want to sample
sauteed pimientos padron, an exemplary tortilla, prawns so thoroughly drenched in garlicky, oily
juices that you'll need extra bread to mop up the sauces or grilled sardines. If you fancy a more
structured meal, your only main-course option is the paella, which seldom disappoints. The
Spanish-speaking staff are cheerful & friendly, as is the ambience.
Restaurant Spy:
At Laxiero there were only two of us and we had the paella for two, which cost £ 16, and a side salad.
Both of them were very good indeed (and my companion was half Spanish so she ought to know) and also
extremely good value. Laxeiro is in a little restaurant oasis in a largely residential area, next to
Columbia Rd flower market. On Saturday night when we went it was jammed to the rivets, but the
atmosphere is still laid back and friendly.

I love Columbia Road at 1 pm. I love it even better at 2 pm, when the prices drop. And more than
anything, I love Laxeiro, where the day's tapas are written on the chalkboard, the sangria is
plentiful and delicious, the paella is fantastic and HUGE for two!
We started with the calamari and the stuffed courgettes (uh, zucchini). Then, we got the paella. The
pan was very large--more than enough for 3 people. This was billed as paella for two. It was 15 GBP,
which I think is quite reasonable!
